30-yard container in Montreal: does it really exist?

Short answer
Roulobac does not offer a 30-yard, and frankly that size is not the standard here. Of sixteen Montreal companies publishing their size list, eleven don't offer 30 yards — and every company publishing a real rate card jumps straight from 20 to 40. The Quebec ladder is 10, 14-15, 20, 40. If your project sits between the two, the 20-yard covers the vast majority of residential renovations and the 40-yard covers demolitions. If you genuinely need a 30-yard, several industrial-focused operators offer one — Multi-Recyclage and GFL/Matrec among them — and that's where to go.
Why is the 30-yard rare in Quebec?
Because the local ladder developed differently. Where Quebec companies add sizes, they add SMALL ones — 5, 7, 12, 18 yards — far more often than a 30. The 30-yard is largely a US convention, and articles pitting "20 vs 30" are almost always written for that market. The few Montreal operators offering one target commercial and industrial work, not self-serve residential renovation.
What should you choose instead?
- 20-yard ($834 tax included, 2.5t) — kitchen and bathroom, major single-floor renovation, large clear-out
- 40-yard ($972 tax included, 4t) — demolition, full renovation, large light-volume jobs
- Two pickups of a 20-yard rather than one large container: often more practical in a residential driveway, where ground space is the real constraint
Is volume really your constraint?
Often not — it's weight. A 40-yard filled with mixed debris would blow well past its included tonnage, and for concrete or soil no size above the 20-yard makes sense: the container hits its weight limit long before it looks full. Before hunting for something bigger, check what your load will actually weigh.
