What are the hidden fees on a container rental?

Short answer
At Roulobac there are none, and here is the full schedule so you can check. Four amounts can be added to the advertised price, all tied to your own usage: weight overage ($149/tonne), extra day ($14/day), a dry run if the truck cannot collect ($90) and prohibited materials (from $75). None is billed without proof: a photo and a weigh ticket, with notice before the card is touched. The street permit is paid to the borough, never to us.
Why does weight overage surprise people so much?
Because volume misleads. A container half full of concrete or soil weighs more than one full of wood and drywall. Included tonnage is adjusted by material type for exactly that reason, but a mixed load with a lot of heavy material can go over without looking full. Real weight is measured on a certified scale at the sorting centre, never eyeballed.
What is a dry run?
A truck dispatched that leaves without the container: a car parked in front, access blocked by snow, or a load above the walls and therefore unsafe to haul. The trip happened regardless, hence the $90. It is entirely avoidable: clear the access and don't load above the walls.
What happens if you dispute a charge?
You can dispute it straight from your live invoice, before the card is charged. The amount is frozen while we check. That is the point of the live invoice: you see the real weight, the photo and the weigh ticket before paying, not after.

Are there fuel or environmental surcharges?
No. The advertised price covers delivery, rental, pickup and included tonnage. No fuel charge, no environmental surcharge, no administrative fee.
Is tax included in the advertised price?
The base price is shown before tax, with GST + QST (14.975%) listed separately — that is what Quebec's Consumer Protection Act requires. Every mandatory charge is already inside the base price.
