Choosing a container
Container or junk-removal crew: which should you choose?
Updated July 27, 2026
Short answer
Junk removal wins when you can't load it yourself, the volume is small, and everything is already out and ready: a crew arrives, loads, and leaves the same day. In Montreal, published minimums start around $170 all in. The container wins as soon as the job runs over several days — you load at your own pace instead of staging everything before the truck arrives — and as soon as volume climbs, because junk removal bills by fraction of a truck. A full truck at the main Montreal operator that publishes a grid comes to $1230 once disposal fees are added.
What does junk removal cost in Montreal?
- Crown Junk Removal: from $195 (1/8 truck, 120 ft³) to $975 (full truck, 960 ft³) — disposal fees EXTRA
- Ramasse Vite Rive-Sud: $170 minimum all in, 10-yard truck
- ASAP Junk Removal: $299 for 20 cubic yards, $799 for 40
Watch for disposal fees on top
This is the easiest difference to miss when comparing grids. At Crown, disposal is billed separately — their own worked example gives $975 of labour plus $255 of disposal, for $1230. Other operators, like Ramasse Vite, advertise a genuinely all-in minimum. Always compare totals, never headline prices.
Do the big brands serve Montreal?
Not all of them, and the ones that don't are exactly the ones dominating search results. JUSTJUNK has no Quebec location at all — their list covers Ontario, the West and the Maritimes, not Quebec. 1-800-GOT-JUNK serves Montreal but publishes no price in Canada: their pricing requires an on-site estimate. The Montreal operators that do publish are smaller.

Frequently asked questions
Is junk removal faster?
Yes, if everything is already out and reachable: the crew loads and leaves the same day. But you must have finished the work before they arrive, which doesn't suit a renovation spread over a week.
